
Finally, some measures to support the millions of UK self-employed…abridged:
- a taxable grant worth 80% of their average monthly trading profit over the last three years, up to £2,500 per month, for at least three months, ending in June 2020 (in line with the employed scheme),
- applies to those self-employed who have filed a 2018/19 tax return and late filers will have another four weeks to file (23 April 2020),
- new businesses set up in the last 12 months will not qualify under this scheme,
- self-employed with trading profits of less than £50k will qualify for this grant
- grants will be paid in a single lump sum instalment covering the three months for which the scheme is applicable – 1st payments no later than the beginning of June,
- most self-employed with possible access the Business Interruption Loan Scheme,
- self-employed can now access Universal Credit in full.
NOTE: those who trade through a limited company and pay themselves a salary and dividends are not covered under this scheme but will be covered for their salary by the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme if they are operating PAYE schemes.
